Educational Opportunities

Stoneback Sisters & Stoneback Brass

Stoneback Brass has developed a wide range of Course Offerings, Programs, Workshops, Master classes and Seminars for one to three and five day school residency programs. Also, as Touring Artists, Stoneback Brass present community concerts while Stoneback Sisters have been featured as guest soloists in appearances with professional, local, community and school bands, orchestras and symphonies.

Assembly Presentations

In an Assembly presentation, students will hear a musical presentation and programs which introduces them to the need for teamwork, and encourages them to be the best they can be in everything they do. Each Assembly Presentation is designed to be motivational and informative, as well as, encouraging both from a musical arts standpoint and that of a positive attitude towards life. Through the use of trumpet trios, trumpet quartets, brass quintets and inspirational antidotes along with a special "Garden hose Concert", the program entertains and encourages students to be the best they can be.

Large Group Ensemble Rehearsals

The large group ensemble rehearsals allow for the possibility of professional mentoring, breakout sectionals with the different instruments of the band or orchestra, or an opportunity for the Stonebacks to manage the large group rehearsal. The clinicians are available to work on an ongoing basis from the background and or foreground according to the wants, desires and needs of the local director. It may also include the Stonebacks playing along with the trumpets of the band/orchestra while working to assist the local teacher/director in preparing the music being worked on.

Audition/Interview Seminar

The Audition/ Interview Seminar is intended to assist the student musician (woodwind, brass, percussion and voice) in preparing for various auditions, interviews and contests or competitions.

Small Group Ensemble Sessions

In Small group Ensemble Sessions, the Stonebacks work directly with select student brass groups, and or trumpet players in preparing a specific fanfare and or music work. As a possibility, this number may be performed in conjunction with the Stoneback Brass Community Concert or as part of the Assembly Presentation.

Performance Workshops

The Performance workshop addresses the importance of individual preparation alongside private instruction and covers the logistics of accepted performance practices, (stage presence) performer to performer communication and expecting success by recognizing what success is for each performer and ensemble.

Trumpet / Brass Master class

The Trumpet/ Brass Master class address issues and topics specific to that of brass performance. Each master class is presented from the stand point of trumpet expertise. Each master class addressed those characteristic issues and problems that are unique to brass playing. The student will also have opportunities to participate musically throughout the demonstration process.

Community Concerts

In a Community Concert performance, the Stoneback Brass presents a concert which is intended to entertain and encourage the audience participants through a variety of music styles, composers and instrumental sounds. In any program, the audience may experience trumpet trios, trumpet quartets, solo playing and brass quintets. The Stoneback Brass uses music of Bach, Sousa, Vizzutti, Henri Tomasi, Mantooth, Joplin, and other notable composers of Classical, Jazz and Contemporary music.

Featured Guest Artists

With the accompaniment of the local band or orchestra, the Stoneback Sisters, a triplet trumpet trio will solo as featured guest artists with band or orchestral accompaniment. After a performance with Doc Severinson in a Tribute to the legendary Hollywood trumpeter, Rafael Méndez, the sisters were given full performance rights to the Méndez Library situated at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. The trio performs from a wide repertoire of Leroy Anderson, Herbert L. Clarke, Harold L. Walters, N. Rimsky-Korsakoff and more, as well as arrangements from composers such as Richard Hayman and Allen Vizzutti.
