Biography
Members of the Stoneback Brass include, Ron, Margie, Mary, Kristin and Sarah Stoneback. This family brings a unique variety of both instrumental combinations and vocal styles to each concert presentation. Including a trumpet trio, trumpet quartet, brass quintet and a cappella singing and other musical combinations.
Concerts include a variety of musical genres and composers such as Bach, Mozart, Robert Wykes, Frank Mantooth, Sousa, Joplin along with the styling's of Baroque and Renaissance trumpets plus jazz, gospel, blues, spirituals and other original musical inspirations.
Since 1992, Stoneback Brass has performed in excess of 1,000 concerts throughout the United States in churches, schools, community functions and conventions. Since 1996 they have been invited to present educational/inspirational seminars and assemblies, with matching grants from the Conn-Selmer Company, Inc. in schools throughout the United States. They have been featured artist-clinicians at the Texas Bandmaster's Association Convention, International Women 's Brass Conference, Texas Music Educator's Conference, Iowa Band Master's Conference, University of South Dakota Conductors Conference and many others. Through their musical performance, the Stonebacks leave the listener with a spirit of enthusiasm, warmth and life.
In 2000, the Stoneback Brass performed as the opening concert for the International Women's Brass Conference. From the Fall of 2001, to the Spring of 2003, Stoneback Brass served as Artist in Residence at Southwestern College in Phoenix, Arizona. In that capacity, Ron, Margie, Mary, Kristin and Sarah represented the college at various community and campus functions, as well as, provided musical and instrumental instruction to Southwestern College students. Also as part of the residency, the Stonebacks provided the frame work and leadership for developing and ascertaining accreditation for the newly formed instrumental music department.
In 2003, the Stonebacks were commissioned to work with Jester Drum and Bugle Corps., based out of Phoenix, Az. They worked as caption head advisors and horn line technicians.
In the fall of 2004, Stoneback Brass conducted 49 educational presentations in schools throughout the United States. In some instances, Stoneback Brass were supported in part by various state programs and the National Endowment for the Arts. Also in the fall of 2004, Stoneback Brass joined FlyAway Promotions, Inc. for a series of church fund raisers through out Minnesota.
During the 2005 summer tour, Stoneback Brass presented a command performance for the entire Wenger Corporation in Owatonna, Minnesota while working in the Minneapolis area.
